I’m an American college student who will be studying abroad in New Zealand for a semester, and I’d like to know how most New Zealand citizens view Americans, particularly students. Will my accent and nationality be a matter of curiosity, or is it a fairly common occurrence to come across Americans in the country? Thank you.

okay, i grew up dealing with racism….being mistreated because i was black……and i come to Y!A not too long ago, and discover its very anti black.

there is one section where there is non stop questions talking horribly about blacks. and lots of anti black answers, and these racists get thumbs ups. this has definitely reinforced my hatred and fear of white people.

how do i deal with this, eventually im going to have to be in the world? i doubt my view will ever change since, i still live in my racist town (im only a teenager).
my opinions of whties were already forming BEFORE Y!A due to racism….Y!A has only reinforced them. next time read the Q.

the fact that there are alot of white people that dont want to let the world know they hate blacks, is another reason i fear them….i dont want them putting me in some kind of danger.
obviously you dont hang out in Cultures and Groups….just cause YOU dont see it doesnt mean its not there. spend a day in Other-Cultures and Groups and you will see all the anti black.

and if you dont call what all goes on in that section racism then you need to open a dictionary up.

i know how you feel. i grew up dealing with it too…and being jumped by white people. im an adult now, and my views have definitely been reinforced…..they are all the same to me, and i dont like any of them.

what you need to do, is do what i did…..lose the emotion…stop caring about what they do to you…just dont feel…..become mean and stand your ground.

and then after that, just put up with them, for when you have to…and keep them away from your personal life.

im not afraid to tell someone, i refuse to socialize with them because they are white.

you cant trust ANYONE in society…no one at all….its best to learn and accept this.

the best way to stop the emotions is, is to keep ignoring and directing your focus and attention somewhere else.

i know…..many of them are closet racists…that is why i wont trust them myself either….dont rely on them if it isnt necessary, keep them at a distance….so this way they wont get you sent up a creek without a paddle.

I purchased a splitter, I can view both monitors. Now what I would like to be able to do is view two documents one on each monitor – how can I do that? Is there hardware/software for that.

You cant. You would need a dual output video card to do this.

A marwari girl has fallen in love with a muslim boy. This is not acceptable to her parents and they wish to apprise their daughter of the future consequences of such an alliance. Can someone direct them to written texts on the net dwelling on the issues involved and future risks for the girl to understand and keep away from such an allinace? Whatever the modern view by so-called progressive people, such an alliance is not at all acceptable to the parents who are naturally the most deeply concerned people towards the future of their beloved daughter.

No one in the world can foretell what the consequences will be. Socially it is almost impossible to make the parents understand. It is a high risk relationship – with a lot of if’s in the future. The girl has to be very brave to take such a decision and ultimately it will depend on the confidence of both the partners. It is going to be real tough and difficult all the way. Neither friends nor family will be of any help at this point of time. Best of luck.
