What is the view from inside the channel tunnel? (on the Eurostar)?

My Philosophy teacher said you can see up into the sea but everything else seems to suggest otherwise

The gnome-constructed tram in World of Warcraft is the only place you’ll see water from inside a rail tunnel.

The French built the Eurostar, not the gnomes. An understandable misconception, though…

    no you can’t its basically dark and black-ish. lol sorry if that’s not what you wanted to hear. I was on it two years ago, and was hoping to be able to see as well…no such luck. Also, you’re in a train, so the roof would impede any view of the sea above.

    Sadly your philosophy teacher is wrong. The tunnel is just that – a long concrete tunnel under the sea bed. There are a few metres between the tunnel roof and the sea bed. All you’d be able to see is the interior of the tunnel, so concrete and strip lighting.

    Like passing through any other rail tunnel, I would imagine. I haven’t travelled through the Chunnel but I have through many others and when you’ve seen one, you’ve seen them all. Basically darkness, punctuated by the odd light. The only difference is the length of time it takes.

    what do you expect from a philosophy teacher;

    the tunnel was built with TBMs, the only way to even try what your teacher suggests is with the immersed tube method, which would be impossible and financially impractical for the purpose of the chunnel.

    I don’t think so, I have never been in a tunnel where you can see the sea.

    If you ever rode in a subway it will look like that except less lighting and no stations until you get out of the tunnel. Oh and you’ll be zooming through it much faster so yeah, but don’t give up your seat because once you exit you’ll get some nice views =]
