difference between traditional view of unions and the new view of unions? ?

What is the difference between the traditional view of unions and the new view of unions?

Which tradition view of unions: That they are antisocial agitators overturning the property rights of the owners of captial or that they are individuals joining forces to powerfully deal with employers?

Both attitudes existed between the Wars and both exist today!

What a lousy homework question.

    Anti union propagators argue this:

At one time, people had few rights in the workplace and unions were necessary to improve working conditions and protect workers. They put an end to sweat shops and child labor.

But today, we have laws to protect the workers. Government legislation now protects workers and they have no need for a union. All the union does today is to collect dues from the members. In fact, union is one of the largest businesses in the USA, and the only way that they make all that money is collecting it from hard working folks like you.

Pro union propagators argue that the unions are every bit as effective as they were a hundred years ago, that they negotiate higher pay and more benefits for workers than they could otherwise get without a union.
