How do New Zealand citizens view Americans?

I’m an American college student who will be studying abroad in New Zealand for a semester, and I’d like to know how most New Zealand citizens view Americans, particularly students. Will my accent and nationality be a matter of curiosity, or is it a fairly common occurrence to come across Americans in the country? Thank you.
