[Great Movie Scenes] Good Will Hunting – Bar Scene

Matt Damon (Will) shows this Harvard student a thing or two about acting smart. A great scene from a wonderful movie. I think it’s safe to say that the dude got ‘pwnd’.

  20. TomatoBasil23 says:

    Yeah, the …
Yeah, the long-haired guy in this clip isn’t smart because all he has done is memorise lines from a book, but hasn’t formed any opinions of his own from what he has learned in class.

Anyone can memorise lines from a book, all you have to do is spend $1.50 on a book at the public library. What’s harder is being able to apply what you’re learning into the real world to form an opinion. That’s the education Will is talking about here, and what the long-haired guy doesn’t seem to possess. OWNED!

  21. TomatoBasil23 says:

    Happens all the …
Happens all the time man, happens all the time. Getting a naturally cocky guy with no success with women, add alcohol into the mix so he loses his inhibitions, and you get a guy trying to belittle others he thinks of as lesser than himself, like this long-haired dude in the clip.

  22. TomatoBasil23 says:

    Or, perhaps you’re …
Or, perhaps you’re the incorrect version of a ‘princess’. Do you have goals in your life? Do you treat people with respect? Are you bitchy toward guys you don’t even know (this includes the ones you don’t think are ‘omg hes so hot!’). If you are all these types of things, then why would the good guys be attracted to you, when they could go for a more attractive girl?

I’m not accusing you of anything, just giving you something to think about.

  23. TomatoBasil23 says:

    You need to …
You need to question what types of guys youre interested in. Were they guys that treat their family with respect, guys that are going after respectable goals in their life? Or were they the popular guys whose only goals in life are getting drunk every weekend? Rather than blaming everyone else which is the easy option, sometimes you need to make changes to how you yourself are in order to improve.

That’s one of the lessons in this very film. Will Hunting just needed Sean to show this to him.

Since I started college I’ve tried not to be “that” guy. I practically model my life after this film.
