Is the way one views himself more or less accurate than how others around him view him?
In some ways, I think the way one views himself is more accurate than how others view him. But on the other hand, outsiders can see other things I don’t think an individual can see. Which view do you think is more accurate?
It’s true, but nobody will ever know you as much as you do. They may see the outside, and a select few will see the inside, but only YOU know the true essence of your being, who you are, who you were, and who you will be. So the self I believe is more accurate. You know about yourself more than anybody, your hopes, your dreams, your likes and dislikes, your quirks, accomplishments and downfalls. Others simply give a perspective of how their being perceives you.In turn you could listen or pay no mind, because in the end it’s all up to you on who you want to be.

I agree with the explanation you added to the question. Deep inside, only we can know what’s going on but we can get carried away by our own feelings and assumptions. The only thing others have that gives them more legitimacy to talk about us is objectivity. But as I said,on the other hand,we know ourselves better so I guess the fusion of an inside and an outside vision is definitely powerful and reliable. They complement each other.

This depends entirely on how aware the individuals are. A very self-aware and honest person will see himself or herself fairly clearly even those characteristics that are not pleasant. Then again if the person is not self-aware others might be have a clearer view. I think an accurate view of oneself or of someone else depends wholely on honesty and awareness.

i think first u would have to agree that there is actually a true self. i don’t think there is, we change so often from moment to moment.

Both – especially family, bu that depends on how close you are to other people. My mother saw things in me from a young age, which have come true only now. We all know ourselves better than anyone else, but sometimes prompts from people who are close can be catalists to self-understanding.

i think you know yourself better. the reason why i think this is because i sometimes say stuff about myself that people don’t believe to be true. then i tell people, "you don’t know me like i know myself thank you very much!"
