I think its only a matter of time before we are able to clone humans. This will cause enormous political and ethical debate.
How would Christianity view such a thing?
How does it view this possibility right now?
I believe scientist are trying to play God.
Christian or not…cloning humans is sick…..something Lex Luther would do

It would depend on the reason for the cloning. A clone is just a twin born at a different time. If they are using them to harvest organs etc it would be wrong.

it’s a very sick situation.but it’s written in the Bible that such a time will come

I suppose I’d have to know why you’d want a clone, in order for me to be okay with it.
For instance, if your little girl or boy died at an incredibly early age due to some kind of inoperable cancer or a car accident (where I was at fault) and you weren’t able to have any more kids. I think, in that instance, and those like that, it would be alright to clone your child to replace the gaping hole in your life and marriage.
There was a lady who went to Seoul S.Korea to have her beloved pit bull cloned (died in 2006) because he saved her life and was trained to push her wheelchair. She spent $50,000 to get 6 clones of him (usually $150,000 per clone, but she was the world’s first to have a pet cloned and take home). Now that we’ve had this remarkable break through for pets, and things of the like, it’s only a matter of time before we clone ourselves.
On a positive note…cloning animals is good. It will provide more food for more people. However, at this point in time, it is much more costly to clone animals for just the souce of food. And, for those of you who don’t want to eat cloned meat, the FDA is requiring supermarkets to label which meat is from cloned sources. (they’re already starting to do this with beef).
As for the Christian implications? Perhaps not an issue with the animals, but definitely issue with people (the whole ‘no soul’ thing comes into play, I suppose), but basically they grow the little clone and then implant it in the mother (if able, if not, lab baby) to grow to term. So, it may very well have what we call a ‘soul.’ We’ve been playing god for years with animals and people, (controlled breeding, mass produced ‘farm raised’ animals, abortion) so this shouldn’t be any different.

Hard to say. Society has become comfortable with all sorts of things that were once shunned by the Church and by people in general.
