RIP Doctor Zinn. I …
RIP Doctor Zinn. I love his books.
I encountered …
I encountered H.Zinn’s book recently wow!!!! he really opened my eyes even to things that really bothered me about history classes .. I hope kids in our poor school districts get exposed to his work.
Wow…where have I …
Wow…where have I been the past couple of days…I had absolutely know idea Mr. Zinn passed away. I’ll never forget the moment I was first introduced to his work when I began to read a Young People’s History of the United States when I was in high school. He really opened my eyes to a lot of things and heavily influenced my decision to pursue a degree in History. R.I.P. Howard Zinn
Howard Zinn, nuff …
Howard Zinn, nuff said.
R.I.P.
Your …
Your pseudo-criticism is amazing siiting your buttons like intellectuals. Zinn is a vivid example of what could be call simply the critical and pedagogical side of historical accounts in the life of USA and the Westernazation of the world of the so called minority groups such as the Indians, the indians descendent, Blacks ans others…Zinn fought against Hitler and that makes him a hero who tried to teach AMerican to underestand history in the veins of the peasants…Idiots!
Mr. Zinn you may …
Mr. Zinn you may have passed away, but your legacy lives on. You’re alive in our memories and will never be forgotten.
Now it’s up to us to carry and spread your message. It’s up to us to live up to the example you set.
My condolences to your family, firends and followers (including me).
May you rest in peace.
Let ‘s continue to …
Let ‘s continue to carry the torch Howard Zinn carried for ” Freedom of Speech”. “We the People” time for Zinnism to begin.
R.I.P Howard Zinn!
R.I.P Howard Zinn!
@scorzeny45 for …
@scorzeny45 for scorzeny45, I’m sure you would have hated John Brown, VA vs. Loving, MLK, etc. Must be tough to always be on the wrong side of history, but by all means hate on, maybe you’ll get lucky.
People like …
People like scorzeny45 always get outsmarted with a wedgie and a swirly
what is it with …
what is it with brooklyn jews? IS IT IN THIER D.N.A. TO BE SO ANTI AMERICAN? WHY didnt he just renounce his citizenship and leave just like his fellow marxist lee harvey oswald.
…i will close …
)
…i will close with this. grow up and maybe we can try debating civilly at a later time. oh, and please, do yourself a favor and turn off Fox News. Bill O’Reilly and Glenn Beck are frying your brain (yes, i’m resorting to your childishness. sorry, i couldn’t help it
look, no matter how …
look, no matter how much this discussion entertains me, i’m going to have to discontinue this. your inability to reason, while not surprising for the average American, and retort to baseless ad hominem attacks rather than actual arguments is not getting us anywhere. this discussion, therefore, is pointless and, while i hoped for some glimmer of intellectual stimulation from this conversation, what i instead got was mental masturbation with premature on your part…
he’s speaking not …
he’s speaking not of everyday decisions they need to make, but rather of the overall picture. you go to war where your bosses want for the reasons that your bosses want or else. if you disagree with the government’s reasoning, so what? if you don’t want to go to Iraq because you signed up to fight in Afghanistan and you feel our reasons for fighting in Iraq are unjustified, so what? you have orders. you follow them. if not, you are in for serious punishment and scrutiny. that is what Zinn means.
and lol at the …
and lol at the Trotsky reference. yeah, i’m an anarcho-fascist lol. contradiction of terms much? anyways, i’m speaking of neutral third party sources such as newspapers of the time that the event took place, rebuttals to claims made by Zinn, Chomsky and other sources i look to initially (which come from various individuals), and then i search into the facts portrayed by both parties to get a true, overall picture.
lol i love how you …
lol i love how you ended this comment by stereotyping me, even though i’m straight edge, haven’t even touched a cigarette to my lips or been drunk in my life, and made me out to be some kid with no friends in the world who listens to Nirvana, and moreover, you played it off like it had relevance to this discussion. while i respect Nirvana, i am not an avid listener. i personally prefer classic rock, jazz, etc. oh, and i’m as American as they get. proud to live here. i even play college football.
please, refute just …
please, refute just one alleged fact that he presented in “A Peoples’ History” using logic and history on a factual basis and if it is a sound refutation i will concede to your argument about Howard Zinn exploiting college students with misinformation. this would be much more productive to our conversation than you throwing baseless attacks without any factual evidence to back up your claims. the burden of proof is in your court. enlighten me, please.
i agree that it is …
i agree that it is just another movement lead by fanatics. it doesn’t change the fact that they flew planes into the twin towers and tried using, for one, Al Shifa as justification (not saying that they were right to attack in the first place). what i don’t agree with is your automatic condemnation of all of Islam. i don’t want to get into the religion argument because it is not pertinent to this discussion, but i would also appreciate you not bring small minded bigotry into this either.
why don’t you go to …
why don’t you go to school and take a class on logic. you will learn that what you are drawing is called a fallacious ad hominem attack. you aren’t actually addressing my argument. instead you are attacking the person i quoted and then calling me a clown, effectively turning the ad hominem attack towards me. i would truly enjoy a civilized, honest discussion with you, but apparently you don’t wish to have one, which saddens me a bit, but i’ll get over it.
no, that is a piece …
no, that is a piece of crap, capitalistic form of labor union (labor unions and capitalism are like water and oil). a collective is not IN ANY WAY related to a capitalist labor union. a collective is a company run by it’s workers, much like FaSinPat in Argentina, or the collectives run by Mondragon in Spain, or the many small collectives in the bay area that have been working quite well. a collective is a flat structured, worker self-managed company. they work well. look into it.
obsessive? i …
obsessive? i mentioned it once, mainly because it is a key reason the Taliban are upset with America in the first place and because you continue to not apply the same standards you would to enemies to your own country.
so just answer this quick question: do deaths resultant to, for example, the bombing of a pharmaceutical factory leading to a medical shortage lead by Stalin not add to Stalin’s death toll?
right… you go on …
right… you go on believing that. i guess the Spanish Revolution (which was crushed by force by the fascist army and nothing more), the kibbutzen, and Paris Commune, not to mention multiple hundreds of examples of businesses run in the vein of the economic model i propose and housing collectives are terrible examples in which such a society failed horribly. i guess i’m just an atheist, pinko who doesn’t deserve to live because of my views.
Just LISTEN to this …
Just LISTEN to this Zinn piece of shit..depicting the Military as mindless robots. Every soldier must constantly think analyse, and weigh decisions. Every soldier is bound by UMJ code.. his every act a legal or illegal one. What a fvckign PIECE OF Zinn is.
