In 1997 the Tories died and New Labour had a giant mjority. Capbell is sipposed to be this all powerful spin maestro with a majority and no opposision. If true, why did Labr slavishly stick to Tory spending, speed up Thatcherism and suck up to the tabloid press. The Tories wr unelectable bak then. So what was Campbell afraid of? Iv never heard a decent explanation for this. Kermode should really ask Alastair Campbell these sorts of questions. Shouldnt he?

I’m not fighting pro Kermode, just ant Campbell, its all bravado, he is a liar. He knows exactly what to say and how to react to best serve his interests. That man is responisble for the demise of traditional politics in this country and the ushering in of a Tabloid-centric nation.
